How To Clean Your Glass

Required Materials

  • 70% or Higher Rubbing Alcohol (Isopropyl Alcohol)
  • Cooking or Epsom Salt
  • Paper Towels
  • Ziplock Bags
  • Optional: Rubber Bands
  • Optional: Pipe Cleaners/Wire Hangers

Cleaning Steps

Step 1: Disassembly

Separate each part of your bong such as the downstem, bowl, ash-catcher, etc., and place them in individual zip-lock bags for cleaning.

Step 2: Pre-Cleaning Rinse

Flush your bong and glassware with hot water to remove loose residue and soften hard resin. This preps them for the alcohol and salt cleaning.

Step 3: Salt Application

Add salt into your bong's base and into each ziplock bag. Use around 1/4 to 1/2 cup of salt for the bong, depending on its size. Add a generous amount of salt for the downstem and attachments, ensuring it doesn't cover more than a quarter of the glass piece.

Step 4: Adding Alcohol

Fill your bong halfway with isopropyl alcohol (the higher the percentage, the more effective). This allows space for the alcohol-salt mixture to shake and clean effectively. Seal the bong openings with tightly rolled paper towels, plastic wrap, or a baggie secured with a rubber band. For the pieces in the ziplock bags, completely submerge them in alcohol and remove excess air before sealing.

Step 5: Shake It Up

Gently shake the bong and bags in various motions to clean the pieces. Avoid violent shaking to prevent damage. If the liquid turns dark with resin and the glass looks cleaner, it's working. For stubborn spots, use an alcohol and salt-soaked paper towel with a pipe cleaner or wire hanger for scrubbing.

Step 6: Rinsing

Once clean, remove the paper towels, take out the glass pieces from the bags, and rinse everything thoroughly with cold water. Dry each piece well before reassembling to prevent sticking.

Step 7: Enjoy

Reassemble your bong, load it up, and enjoy a smooth hit from your freshly cleaned glass!
